Reuben Paterson's New Public Artwork in Manukau

Public art has transformed the stairwell of Ronwood Avenue carpark in Manukau, into a place of bright colour. Thursday 11 August marked the completion of the collaborative work, Night and Day by Lonnie Hutchinson and Reuben Paterson, with an official opening hosted by Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board.

Night: Aroha atu, Aroha mai / I love you by Lonnie Hutchinson will be familiar to many declaring its message of unconditional love in huge neon letters.

The second part of the work, Day: Me Rongo / Walk in Rainbows was installed last week. It is a curtain of 148 prisms by Reuben Paterson and Walter Foott that casts rainbows on the concrete, using art to add a bit of wonder to the urban landscape.
