We are thrilled to announce the release of not one, but three limited editions from the incredible Elizabeth Thomson.
Since Elizabeth began exhibiting in the early 1980s, her art has thrived on paradox. Her large scale wall sculptures are painterly in compositional terms, yet they are also inherently sculptural. Her materials – zinc and, most often bronze – are the staple of mainstream sculpture practice, yet her work evokes lightness and flight.
Drawing on the abstract language of music, philosophy and mathematics, Thomson’s art is also shaped by the material world in which she finds herself in. Elizabeth locates her work on the boundary between the known and the unknowable, the beautiful and the uncomfortable. Pushing the notion of the ‘beautiful’ into new territories, her work can be said to contain challenging beauty.
