Established in 1987, Tinakori Gallery's name recalls its origins in Wellington's historic Tinakori Village. In August 2000, the Gallery relocated to Featherston Street, in the heart of Wellington's Central Business District.
Specialising in the sale of historical and contemporary artworks, the Gallery represents some of New Zealand's leading contemporary artists, presenting their work in monthly curated exhibitions. The Gallery undertakes research that contributes to the scholarship surrounding each artist, seeking to augment their profiles.
Tinakori Gallery's association with Toi Maori Aotearoa has presented the unique opportunity to represent some of Aotearoa/New Zealand's leading Maori artists. This relationship allows the Gallery to promote the growth of international profiles of our Maori artists that aligns with the increasing global interest in indigenous art.
The Gallery maintains a significant focus on the sale of secondary market works dealing with works by artists, such as Colin McCahon, Ralph Hotere, Allen Maddox, Robin White, Raymond McIntyre, Frances Hodgkins, Jeffrey Harris and Tony Fomison.
Tinakori Gallery guarantees the quality and authenticity of all the artworks we show, enabling clients to purchase with absolute confidence.
